  1.   2. Housekeeping and Recognition • Check the assignment calendar-begin preparing for portfolio archiving on 11 • CGCC will be here Dec. 6/7 for registration • Let’s Travel! Registrations: 8 • Are you keeping your vocabulary logs current with the readings? • Movie, Glory, is Friday, 12/9, after school (2:30) in the library. Optional credit for full attendance.

Coming Due—do not squander time; that’s the stuff life’s made of… • Monday: • Vocabulary Log #4 • Pageant, Chapter 22, pages 523- 535b—GQ due—tii • Tuesday: • Pageant, Chapter 23, pages 536-545 • Wednesday: • Pageant, Chapter 23, pages 545-564b—GQ due—tii • Monday, 12/12 • Grammar Lesson #5 • Aristotelian Outlines

  4. Today’s Class • Collect remaining HF questions, and TW scores/reflections • DOK questions – Before lunch • Expert Chairs: Posing and expanding on the question • Anyone in class may be in the first group of experts. • Experts pose 1 of their questions to class for up to 3 minute discussion, then expert has last word (not reading answer but clarifying or expanding on any point.

  5. Expert Chairs cont. • Once an expert has posed at least 1 of their questions, anyone in the class can tap them out to come into the expert chair group. • No more than 1 member of a study group can be in the expert chair group at any given time. • Experts may ask for volunteers or call on students for responses to their questions. • All students should be jotting down notes on the expert group discussion.

  6. The New View of Reconstruction – after lunch • The Big Question and how to think about it. • The 4 major positions • Good Ole Rebel • Varying Viewpoints – Look at Page 534 in text • Peeling the onion in more depth – Foner article – highlight as we read – we will pause and discuss by segment (you will eventually annotate so if you can multi-task go for it).

  7. What do the 0’s mean in STI? • 0 = assignment was not turned in, is now overdue, and will remain a zero • 00 = you had an excused absence, and need to make up this assignment within the available time frame (see HHS handbook, page 6). • 000 = assignment was not uploaded to tii, and is now late (-25%); for credit, bring in a tii receipt along with the related assignment.
