  16. Laptop User Charter Prior to receiving a laptop students must return a signed agreement. This agreement includes: • a commitment to take the laptop home and charge the battery • acceptable computer and Internet use including rules about cyber bullying. Failure to comply with the Laptop User Charter could result in: • Recall of the laptop • Loss of access for home use

  17. Laptop User Charter • What happens if my laptop breaks? • • All laptops and batteries are covered • by a manufacturer’s 2 years warranty. • • The warranty covers manufacturer’s defects and normal • use of the laptop. • • This does not cover negligence, abuse or malicious damage. • What happens if I accidentally damage my laptop? • In the case of loss or accidental damage a statutory declaration signed by a Justice of the Peace must be provided before a laptop can be replaced. This replacement may be at the family’s expense.

  18. What happens if my laptop is stolen? • Hack-resistant hardware has been included to track and render stolen laptops useless. The technology removes any incentive to steal the devices.
