  10. Peering with other R+E Networks in AP Region • 2002~ • MIC plans to propose an Asia-wide R+E network, APREN, which will build upon APII test beds • TEIN is open to collaboration from other Asian countries KOREN/APII/TEIN/APAN-KR NOC

Peering with other R+E Networks in AP Region • 2002~ • Korea-Kyushu Gigabit Network Project • KJCN between Pusan and Fukuoka/Kitakyushu • 2 * 1GbE links between KOREN Pusan node and Kyushu Gigapop(QGPOP) • Hope this can be extended into China from Seoul • An initiative by APAN-KR in KR and QGPOP/ISIT/APAN-JP in JP • First and great model for Asia KOREN/APII/TEIN/APAN-KR NOC

Plan for Year 2002 • Network upgrade • N*2.5G(SONET/DWDM) for part of KOREN • 10~15 members can have a 1GbE link • KAIST and KPNU already have a 1Gbe link • 10GbE experiment for Year 2003~ • Korea-Kyushu Gigabit Network Project • GbE b/w Pusan/KOREN and QGPOP/APAN • Plan to increase bandwidth of TEIN • This requires both sides’ agreement KOREN/APII/TEIN/APAN-KR NOC
