  2. Exercise 1 BEFORE YOU WATCH What do you typically drink during a day? What did you drink today? If people are supposed to drink more than 10 glasses of water a day, do you think you drink enough? Do you buy juices? What juice is your favourite? What brand? How important is the product’s price for you? Do you ever prepare fresh juice at home? Do you have a Resume or CV? Have you ever tried to write one? If so, say for what purpose. What does a good CV consist of? Do you think it pays off to exaggerate or lie in your CV? Discuss pros and cons of authenticity.

WHILE YOU WATCH Exercise 2 Are these statements TRUE or FALSE? • The speaker’s company only distributes Pfanner juices. • The company consists of 25 employees and four departments. • Every department has its own HR specialist. • The candidates for jobs have to go through three rounds of interviews. • The key account manager is responsible for the turnover, margin, profit and costs. • The first selection of a job applicant is done by the manager’s assistant. • The speaker thinks it is appropriate to include jokes in a CV. • The speaker believes he is able to identify a good salesman in two minutes. • The speaker tests the applicant’s computer skills.

  6. Exercise 5 ROLE PLAY • Work with the whole class. Brainstormthe qualities of an ideal sales representative. Make a list. Compare your findings to other Internet resources such as this human resources document: http://www10.hrsdc.gc.ca/English/ShowProfile.aspx?v=28 • Which of your classmates would make an excellent sales rep? Why do you think so? • ROLEPLAY: Divide into groups of three. One of you should represent a hotel manager, the other two should be competing sales reps – Pfanner x Rauch. Act out a mini scene in front of the class. The sales reps should try to persuade the hotel manager to sell exclusively their brand, while the manager should try to get from them as many bonuses as possible. Choose the best scenario. Discuss which qualities made the sale.

Use each of the following vocabulary words in sentences about the content of the video: brand, turnover, sales and marketing, department, wholesale, margin, key account, sales representative, fault, and distribution company.
