African Elephants The African elephants live in Eastern, Southern and West Africa. They eat fruit and other plants and drink their mother’s milk and water.
The African elephant is the largest animal on the surface. Males stand 3,2 – 4,0 m tall at the shoulder and weigh 4,700 – 6,048 kg, while females stand 2,2 – 2,6 m tall and weigh 2,160 – 3,232 kg. The biggest elephant was 4 m tall and weigh 10000 kg. Elephants have four molars; each weighs 5 kg and measures about 30 cm long. At about 40 to 60 years of age, the elephant no longer has teeth and will likely die of starvation, a common cause of death. The elephant has tusks weigh from 23 – 45 kg and can be from 1,5 – 2,4 m long.
Polar Bear The Polar Bear lives in the Arctic. It is included in Red Book. The Polar Bear is the largest of all the bears. Some of them reach a high of 3 m and weigh 700 kg. From cold it makes a thick layer of fat and skin with thick warm coat. This beast has exellent hearing and sight. The Polar Bear can be very long time live without food. The Polar Bear eats fish, seals and many animals that live in the Arctic. Now in the world there are a few species of bears.
Leopard Leopards are graceful and powerful big cats closely related to lions, tigers, and jaguars. They live in sub-Saharan Africa, northeast Africa, Central Asia, India, and China. However, many of their populations are endangered, especially outside of Africa. . Leopards are strong swimmers and very much at home in the water, where they sometimes eat fish or crabs.
Leopard The leopard is so strong and comfortable in trees that it often hauls its kills into the branches
Female leopards can give birth at any time of the year. They usually have two grayish cubs with barely visible spots. The mother hides her cubs and moves them from one safe location to the next until they are old enough to begin playing and learning to hunt. Cubs live with their mothers for about two years—otherwise, leopards are solitary animals.
Amur Tiger Amur Tiger is included in the Red List. It is a very big animal. It is the only tiger having on a belly five centimetric grease layer. It protects the Amur tiger from a cold wind at the lowest temperatures The Amur tiger sees five times better than the man. This tiger lives in protected zone of Russia, on the banks of the Amur and the Ussuri rivers.
People began to kill the Amur tigers because the Amur tigers began to kill the livestock and dogs. Earlier the skin of the Amur tiger was a subject of pride of every hunter. Sadly, tigers are endangered and are badly in need of protection to avoid extinction of the remaining species.. The WWF has made some progress with the preservation of the Amur Tiger, but much more needs to be done if these awesome animals are to continue to survive.
Snow Leopard The snow leopard (Panther uncia or Unciauncia) is a moderately large cat native to the mountain ranges of Central Asia.
The lion (Panther leo) is one of the four big cats in the genus Panther and a member of the family Felidae. With some males exceeding 250 kg (550 lb) in weight, it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger. Wild lions currently exist in sub-Saharan Africa and in Asia, with an endangered remnant population in Gir Forest National Park in India, having disappeared from North Africa and Southwest Asia in historic times. Until the late Pleistocene, about 10,000 years ago, the lion was the most widespread large land mammal after humans. They were found in most of Africa, across Eurasia from western Europe to India, and in the Americas from the Yukon to Peru.
Pandas Pandas are very nice animals. They live in deep forests in China. Pandas are rather big animals. They are black and white and they are very fluffy and nice. Pandas eat only bamboo leaves. Nowadays people don’t hunt pandas. There are only sixteen hundred pandas living in the wild. People in China protect pandas, keep them in different Zoos.
BEAVER Beavers live in the forests, near the banks of the rivers. They build huts there. There are 2-7 beavers in one hut. This animals eat grass , trees, reed grass and other plants. Beavers are not big animals, they weight about30 kilograms. It is a peaceful animal . They are in dangerous because their fur is expensive.
It’s a mammal forest animal. It’s a hedgehog of small size with short needles, the colour of which varies from light-to-dark-brown. Inhabits most of the natural stations of the steppe and forest – steppe zones of Baikal. In the nature of the lives of 4 – 6 years. Multiplies 1 once a year in June. Usually born 3 – 7 children. In term special measures of protection does not need. Protected in Daursky nature reserve.
Gecko Gecko is a type of small LIZARD that lives mainly in hot countries
Geckos live in Madagascar in tropical forests. All geckos, belonging to the genus Uroplatus, have a protective painting and a figure, simulating various objects of the environment. Geckos eat insects, which are located on the ground among the leaves, or in the trees. They lead night way of life, and their huge eyes indicate it. Like all Geckos, their eyes don’t have eyelids and they are covered with transparent pocket-scales. These lizards use their tongue to clean the eyes. These animals are listed into the Red Book.
