  1. Problem 1.1 Solve these design problems by experimenting with square tiles. Sketch designs on one-inch grid paper.

  2. Part A • Badger State Shows in Wisconsin requested a bumper-car ride with a total of 36 square meters of floor space and 26 rail sections. Sketch some possible designs for this floor plan.

  3. Part B • Lone Star Carnivals in Texas wants a bumper-car ride that covers 36 square meters of floor space and has lots of rail sections for riders to bump against. Sketch some possible designs for this floor plan.

  4. Part C • Design a bumper-car floor plan with 36 or more square meters of floor space that you think would make an interesting ride. Be prepared to share your design with the class and to explain why you like it.
