  3. Good News • The Wilson Language Program - the implementation of this sound specific reading program has our students reading and decoding earlier. Our plan for next year is to incorporate this program into our preschool. • The Singapore Math Program - year two of this program continues to strengthen early problem solving skills. Our plans for next year include a parent night! • Team Teaching - the K and 1 teachers shared teaching responsibilities this year and the integration was seamless! Mrs. Edelen took on science for grades 3-8!

SERVICE During the 2012-2013 school year St. Augustine students supported the following: • Tornado Victims • The Caring Place • St. A Food Pantry • Angel Tree • Sisters of Charity of Nazareth • Hand in Hand Ministries • The Crisis Pregnancy Center • The Caring Closet • The MC Red Cross Total monies collected: Approximately $2,200.00!!!

Award Winners St. Augustine school students excelled in the following competitions during the 2012-2013 school year: • Stephen Duffy (Grade 3) won third place in the Triarco art contest for his drawing of a “unique” nose. • Alexis and Shelby Hayden had artwork that won in MC Fair Art Show. • Ethan Sparks won the Ham Days Spelling Bee. • 7 & 8 grade Book Bee teams placed 1st in the Archdiocese. • Kelly Mattingly (Grade 6) competed in the state level National Geographic Geography Bee. • Our county 4H speech winners were: Luke Thomas (Grade 6), Addison Riney (Grade 8), and Raley Jo Wright (Grade 5). • Our St. Baldrick’s Heroes were: Ethan and Bryce Thompson, GJ OldeLoohuis, and Benjamin Thompson And many more!!!!

  18. Our Catholic Population St. Augustine School serves the Catholic population in Marion County and Taylor County. Marion Co. - 2,500 households, 8 parishes Taylor Co. – 290 households, 1 parish Approximately 2,800 Catholic households

  21. Good News for Marion County We have good news to share with all the people of Marion County. We have a mission: To bring people to a saving and sacramental relationship with Jesus Christ. To grow in holiness. To grow in knowledge of our faith

  22. Catholic Education:a powerful evangelizing tool St. A. School is powerful for evangelization. St. A. School has been stable foundation for our community for generations. St. A. School is vital for our community today and in the future.

Stepping Stone to Success #1 PRAYER “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.” A personal commitment to prayer is essential. • Mass each Sunday • Daily Mass (rosary @ 6:30 a.m., Mass @ 7 a.m.) • Daily family prayer • Personal devotional prayer Pray for our school ministry – every day!!!

  24. Stepping Stone to Success #2 FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP: TIME & TALENT Involvement in ministry: Give 5 hours to loving service each week. In support of our school ministry: PTO, SAC, Turkey Social, Spring Fling, Athletic Programs, special events, etc. YOU ARE ST. A.!!! You are needed and wanted.

Stepping Stone to Success #3 FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP: TREASURE “Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap.” Tithing helps all our ministries, including our school ministry. Plan to give generously. Median Marion Co. income = $37,488 5% gift to parish = $1,800.00 5% gift to other charities = $1,800.00

  26. Additional Revenue Sources Scrip Cards – a “no brainer” Use and re-use those Kroger cards for groceries and gas. REVENUE POTENTIAL Groceries & Gas = $100/week X 52 weeks = $5,200 @ 4% back to the parish = $208 100 households =$20,800 500 households =$104,000 REVENUE REALITY 2010-2011 fiscal year: $13,162.47 LOTS OF ROOM FOR REVENUE GROWTH
