  2. Unplanned Pregnancy In West Virginia • 42% of WV Women reported their pregnancy was unintended. (pregnancy wanted later or not at all) • Most unintended pregnancies were reported by single women (over 60%). • Over 40% of unintended pregnancies are to women 20-29 years of age. • Over 30% of unintended pregnancies were reported by WV married women. • Data Source: OMCFH, Melissa A. Additional Data from 2006 PRAMS • Percent of pregnancies where the mother was trying to get pregnant  43.4% • Percent of pregnancies where the mother was not doing anything to keep from getting pregnant   58.0% • Percent whose reason for not doing anything to keep from getting pregnant was that she had problems getting birth control when she needed it  5.7% • Percent of mothers (or partner) using birth control methods now to keep from getting pregnant   85.2%
