What’s Happening Now? • Michigan employers are introducing wellness programs at the workplace. • BASF provides WeightWise at Work programs. • HealthPlus of Michigan and Citizens Republic Bancorp, both Flint-based companies, made making healthy choices into a friendly competition. • MGM, Trinity Health, General Dynamics provide workplace chronic illness self management programs.

What’s Happening Now? • Employers are helping offset the cost of smoking cessation and fitness programs to encourage employee wellness. • United Auto Supply is paying half the cost of a smoking cessation program (about $100) for employees and their spouses, and for the time it takes to complete. If successful, employees receive a gift to offset the other half of the cost.

  4. What’s Happening Now? • The Oakland County Wellness Coalition networked the county's chamber of commerce to share best practices and information about how to make corporate wellness programs more effective.
