Understanding text-explicit questions is vital for effective reading comprehension. These questions have straightforward answers located directly within the text, such as "What year is it?" or "Who are these people?". Asking such questions helps readers think critically about the material and verify their understanding. For instance, if you inquire, "What were homes like in the Appalachian Mountains in Kentucky in 1923?", the answer is accessible right in the text. This practice reinforces comprehension skills and enhances engagement with the reading material.
