  2. Meet Liz! Liz Owens is the political media coordinator in AAUW’s policy shop. Liz creates the social media content for the policy department, including tweets, Facebook posts, and shareable images. The bulk of this content lobbies members of Congress on AAUW priorities. Follow @AAUWPolicy on Twitter to learn more.

  5. Goals of Social Media Advocacy  • Increase visibility for a policy position. • Influence policymakers and constituents. • Recruit new activists.

  6. Ways to Use Facebook for Advocacy • Spread information about your issue or cause. • Share items that ask folks to take action. • Take over a politician’s page.

Thursday, January 23 | 2-3pm EST Join the storm using #TalkPay Join us as we urge President Obama to #TalkPay during the upcoming State of the Union Address! Today, women typically make only 77 cents for every dollar earned by men. And for women of color, the wage gap is substantially worse. The State of the Union address is where the President sets out his priorities. We want to urge him to commit to ways to close the pay gap and remind the American public why this issue is so important.
