  2. Bianca MillerCounselor I am excited to be joining this wonderful team as your student’s professional school counselor! I have a passion for helping students reach personal social, academic, and career goals! I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Guidance from UMKC and I am currently earning an Educational Specialist Degree in Mental Health. Throughout the school year, I will be visiting each classroom to teach lessons on academic, personal social, and career development. I will also facilitate small group and individual counseling sessions on a referral basis. Small group and individual counseling sessions often focus on: Self-Control, Focusing Attention, Self-Confidence, Making friends, Bullying, or any other content that prevents your student from success in school. I look forward to partnering with you in helping your students build successful futures!

  3. Cheryl BearcePhysical Education Teacher • In the Park Hill School District for 20 years • I have completed my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education from CMSU and then Lesley College. • I supervise students when they get on and off the bus

Maria BradshawMusic Teacher • Music Teacher for 19 years, 9 years here at Hawthorn • Students learn the history of music and musical instruments • Students practice elements of singing • Students play Orff instruments & tubanodrums • Students experience music through movement • PM car rider superviser

  5. Meredith ReynoldsMedia Specialist • This is my 6th year in the district • First year as librarian • I’ve taught preschool, 3rd, 5th, and 6th. • Also, I’m a vegetarian!

  6. Kent WatersArt Teacher • This is my 29th year of teaching • I’ve been at Hawthorn since it’s opening • I do Morning and Evening Car Duty

Stacey SturmSpecial Education Teacher • In the Park Hill School District for 12 years • Masters in Special Education with Bachelors Degree in Music and Psychology • At Hawthorn, I teach reading, writing, math, and social skills to small groups • I also am one of the Check In Check Out “Queens” for students who need interventions and extra support for behavior or social skills • I lead the Green Thumbs Club and supervise students in growing plants in our garden between the K-1 and 2-3 pods

  8. Darcy MonroeSpecial Education Teacher • I also lead the 5th grade Husky Patrol • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Master’s Degree in Special Education • Has 3 children, Lindsy 18, Rhett 15, Megan 14 • In my free time I love to sew, knit, crochet and ride horses

  9. Melissa PotterIntervention Specialist • Teaches small groups in Reading • Supervises Car riders

  10. Kristen CurtisSpeech- Language Pathologist • I sponsor the 5th grade Husky Patrol • I supervise the cafeteria during Breakfast

  11. Lori RiegerRecovery room interventionist • This is my first year as the Recovery Room Interventionist at Hawthorn • One of the Check In Check Out “Queens” for students who need interventions and extra support for behavior or social skills

  12. Jane AndersonOccupational Therapist • Within the school system, occupational therapy helps children facing physical, cognitive, or mental health challenges that affect their school performance. School-based occupational therapy assessment and intervention focuses on certain areas: • Activities of daily living (caring for self-needs such as eating, dressing, and toilet habits) • Education (achieving in the learning environment, which may include looking at visual perception, motor coordination and control for handwriting, keyboarding or other school tasks) • Play (interacting with age-appropriate toys, games, equipment and activities) • Providing assessment  of sensory processing and developing sensory skills or adapting the environment for success (a sensory plan or sensory tools may be a part of this process.

Colleen pleissSchool Social Worker • I have my LMSW (License Master of Social Work) and my LCSW (License of Clinical Social Work).  • This is my 7th year in the Park Hill School District and my 13th year overall.  • I am happy to help you and your family with any support that you need.  Whether it is help with food, utilities, clothing, doctor appointments, etc., school related issues or just basic help and support, feel free to give me a call or contact me via email.  Contact me anytime and we will work together on creating a plan to solve the problem.

  14. Misty lafevertechnology specialist • This is my 2nd year as technology specialist • I help teachers and students solve technology issues • I supervise students in the Magic Circle before school

  15. Matt JacksonCustodian • In the district for 10 years • Head Custodian at Hawthorn for 6 years

  16. TrudiNaussschool aide • This is my 17th year as an aide in the district • I will be instructing reading, writing, and math small groups • I help supervise students in the cafeteria during breakfast
