What is the Purpose of the HTS? • Main goal of HTS is to: move people and cargo from one place to another in a safe, efficient, and economical manner. • The National Highway Safety Act: • Established by the Federal, State, and Local Government • Set of traffic safety guidelines • Enforced by people, motor vehicle dept, courts

Safety and Efficiency on the road…How can you reduce your risk of accidents and/or incidents on the road? • Keep vehicle in top condition • Anticipate the actions of others • Take steps to protect yourself and others (how can you do this?) 4.
