Frequently Asked … CCP Probation & Dismissal When is the student placed on CCP Dismissal – after one or two terms (semester/quarter) of CCP Probation? • The rule states: An “ineligible student" means a student who meets the definition of an underperforming student for two consecutive terms of enrollment. • The first semester in which a student is “underperforming” triggers CCP Probation. (meaning the student has earned a cumulative GPA below 2.0 or withdraws from or receives not credit for two more courses in the same term) • If the student is still “underperforming at the end of the second semester, then the student must be placed on CCP Dismissal.

Frequently Asked … CCP Probation & CCP Dismissal • Does “receives no credit for” mean an F grade? • No • A student is placed on CCP Probation when the student withdraws from or receives no credit for two or more courses in the same term • Receives no credit for means a transcript entry of W, NC, or the equivalent • A failing grade (F) is calculated within the cumulative GPA and so it is captured under the first possible reason a student is placed on CCP Probation (cumulative GPA below 2.0)

Frequently Asked … CCP Probation & CCP Dismissal • The college/university should be aware of the rule (OAC 3333-1-65.13) • The college/university should still calculate the student’s Satisfactory Academic Progress and should utilize the institution’s own probation/dismissal policy • This rule does not supersede the institution’s policy • The college/university should be in regular contact with the secondary schools of students who are underperforming • The college/university and secondary school must communicate academic issues

Frequently Asked … Courses at the High School • If a high school teacher has been approved to teach a college course, who determines the grading scale, book, assignments to use? • The College or University owns the course. • All aspects of the course are determined by the college. Partners must have conversations about any issues. Memorandum of Understanding can address any issues. • Consider: Strikes, Suspensions, FERPA, etc.
