PBD • A public body must, • in exercising its functions, act – • in the way best calculated to contribute to the delivery of the Act’s emissions reduction targets; • in the way best calculated to help deliver any statutory adaptation programme; and • in a way that it considers is most sustainable.

  7. Design and development • contract awarded to Jacobs UK Ltd in November 2012 • 6-month project to design, develop and deliver a bespoke e-tool • based on PBD and Scottish Government’s PBD Guidance • aligned with existing CEC training modules and reporting requirements

  13. Tool output • produces report that displays all info entered • report can be used for • project management (eg business cases, gateway reviews) • reporting to Members on sustainability • identifying project strengths and weaknesses as regards sustainability • recognising training needs

  14. Benefits of the e-tool • governance oversight • consistent reporting • ability to evidence compliance if necessary • increased awareness at all staff levels • highlight good practice • target support and training

  15. What next? • roll out Tool promotion, engagement and training programme • determine parameters for, and undertake, further development eg • technical aspects (eg rollover links to Help) • ‘plug-ins’ eg carbon footprinting tool • complementary compliance eg Equality & Rights
