Home Town Competitiveness Team Nebraska • HTC is owned & licensed by a consortium of Nebraska development organizations; • The Indiana Resource Team has engaged HTC for consultant services during Phase I; • Thanks to the Nebraska team for all of their leadership and support throughout this pilot initiative!!!

  5. Indiana – HTC Framework • Phase I – Assessment • 4 months to complete; • conducts local assessments of four pillars; • assessments result in identifying customized strategic opportunities.

  6. Indiana – HTC Framework (cont.) • Phase II – Strategic Development and Implementation • 12 to 18 months to complete; • takes the opportunities identified in Phase I and creates specific strategic action plans.

  7. Indiana – HTC Framework (cont.) • Phase III – Sustaining Success • Phase III sustains the successes from Phase I and II; • Moves all of the various strategies into action.

  9. Site Coaches • Represents the Indiana Resource Team; • Strategic leader; • Co-directs process activities with Community Coordinator; • Is both a mentor and coach – Champion ofthe Process.

  10. Community Steering Committee Community Owns the Initiative: • Acts as temporary board of directors; • Members include community leaders, Community Coordinator, and task force representatives; • Guides & oversees the Phase I process;

  11. Community Coordinator • Works in a team approach with Site Coach; • Community strategic leader; • Co-directs day-to-day activities of the initiative; • Champion of the Community Outcome.

  12. Pillar Task Force Members Community members key to successful Phase I process. Pillar task forces include: • Entrepreneurship; • Leadership; • Youth; • Charitable Giving.

  13. Timelines & Key Activities • Feb. 9 – Communities decide on IHTC; • Feb. 9 thru 31 – Phase I Preparation: - Local $7,500 secured/fiscal agent identified; • Organization of Steering Committee, local support staff and volunteers recruited; • “Community Kick-Off” Celebration conducted.

  14. Timelines & Key Activities (cont.) • March thru May – Implementation of Phase I assessment activities; • June 1 – Pillar assessment reports sent to Community Steering Committee;

  15. Timelines & Key Activities (cont.) • June 15 – Community Steering Committee conducts “Opportunity Retreat”; • June 30 – Community Steering Committee publishes final report and sends a copy to the Indiana Resource Team.
