NOUN: a name (a person, place or thing) Example: “Mark !” ADJECTIVE: a modifier (describes a noun) “Mark ran to the closest C.R.” VERB: an action “Mark ran.” PRONOUN: replaces a noun (“He” or “I” instead of “Mark”) ADVERB: a modifier (describes a verb) “Mark ran to the closest C.R. quickly.” Preposition ?!?!

  13. WHAT IS A PREPOSITION? • Definition: A word that explains the time, space or logical relationship between the other parts of the sentence. (Time) “Mark ran for three hours.” (Relationship) “Mark visited the house of Belinda Lora.” (Space) “Mark ran to the C.R.”

  16. PREPOSITION RULES • Prepositions must be followed by nouns. • They should not end the sentence. WRONG: “WHERE ARE YOU COMING FROM?” RIGHT: “FROM WHERE ARE YOU COMING?” WRONG: “WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO?” RIGHT: “TO WHOM ARE YOU TALKING?”
