EHPM’s New Structure Rationale Desire for self governance and greater control of strategy and finances Recruitment of Director General to manage affairs Relocation to independent office in Brussels Restructuring of EHPM organization to better recognize needs of current position and to manage working plan Greater transparency of operations and organization Maintain ongoing working plan

  7. 6. Working Groups - Operation WG to receive proposals of issues to be worked out from: Board, Membership and WG members. WG not to make policy decisions but technical ones by means of proposals, reports… which will be submitted to Board/Assembly. Proposals, reports… ideally obtained in the WG by consensus, when not possible vote will be used. WG leading person will be the Pilot; expert in the area. Pilot does not make final decisions but streamlines. One member of the Board for each WG will be the go between with the Board.

  8. 7. Working Groups - Operation Special Tasks Forces may be used upon WG proposal and approval of the Board. External experts invited. 4 physical meetings per year maximum Permanent on line contact via web site model which can be implemented immediately (model used by AFEPADI in Spain (www.Afepadi.org). The use of this web site portal will not only be for WG members, but for anybody in EHPM to follow the progress of every WG (transparent) and be able to contribute (proactively).

Role of Director General Coordinating the day to day activities of EHPM (working groups, budget, kitting out of new office etc.) Coordination of lobbying activities of national associations and EHPM Monitoring activities of the European Parliament and Commission on EHPM goals Addressing Member queries on specific regulatory issues

Immediate Next Steps Finalization of EHPM position on botanicals Coordinated lobbying by national associations of MEPs and national government representations in Brussels European Parliament event on botanicals Website upgrade Development of internal communications system (circulars, newsletters) First working group meetings and adoption of work programme for each working group
