Exploring the Relationship Between Altitude and Temperature

This experiment aimed to investigate the correlation between altitude and temperature, specifically whether altitude affects how long snow remains on the ground. Our hypothesis anticipated that as altitude increases, the temperature would decrease. The results confirmed our hypothesis, showing that higher altitudes correlate with lower temperatures. This finding explains why snow can persist on mountain tops much longer than on lower ground. We would like to thank our mentor, Chris Meyer, and Mr. Kliewer for their support, as well as everyone who assisted us along the way.

  2. Purpose • The purpose of our experiment was to find the relation between altitude and temperature. • We decided to do this experiment because we wanted to know if there is a correlation to the length of time snow remains on higher altitudes.

  3. Design

  4. Altitude vs. Time

  5. Temperature vs. Time

  6. Altitude vs. Temperature

  7. Conclusion • At the end of our experiment we can conclude that our hypothesis was correct. In that as the altitude increases the temperature will decrease. • This explains why snow remains on top of mountains rather than staying on the ground for long periods of time.

  8. Thank You!!! • We would like to thank Chris Meyer for being a helpful mentor • We would also like to thank Mr. Kliewer for giving us a chance to participate in this amazing fest. • And last would but not least we would like to thank everyone who helped us in our time of need when we had nothing and we had to start from scratch.
