Key Board • Looks like typewriter • Standard keyboard – 101 to 104 keys • PS2 as well as USB connector • Various brands (e.g. TVSE, Logitech, HP, etc…) • Keyboard is the input device that enables user to enter data into a computer, control cursor and pointer locations, and to control the dialog with the computer.   7. CPU (Central Processing Unit) • A central processing unit (CPU), also known as processor. It processes, instructions and data contained in the software. • There are different CPU designs. But in general, the CPU consists of the control unit, the arithmetic and logic unit (ALU) and memory. PPT 8.1.7

  8. SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) • Switch Mode Power Supplies is the latest technology for high efficiency power supplies. The switch mode power supply, uses a high frequency switch to maintain the output voltage. PPT 8.1.8

  9. RAM (Random Access Memory) • Random Access Memory (RAM) is a volatile memory whose contents can be accessed in any (i.e., random) order. • Higher the RAM – Faster the Computer PPT 8.1.9

  10. PCI Cards (e.g. NIC Card, Sound Card, etc…) • Network Interface Card. A physical circuit card to connect a computer or any other device (such as a printer) to a network using RJ-45, Cat 6 & Switches. It is also called a LAN Card. PPT 8.1.10
