Certificate Program Requirements Four theme-related courses required to obtain the certificate Each course taken for credit, requiring a grade of "B" or better Curriculum consists of: Seven core courses, two courses must come from this core Seven electives, covering a variety of theme-related topics

5. Why a CertificateRather Than a Degree Program? “Accessible” to more people Eliminates the need for going through formal admission process Encourage professionals to "test-the-waters" of graduate education May lead to greater graduate degree pursuit

6. Need and Demand Verified Extensive research documents both need and demand Viewed as an essential element to assist in meeting critical workforce needs and shortage of professionals

Leadership Team The 10 RUTC Directors serve as the program's Board of Directors; Board Chair: Denver Tolliver, North Dakota State Curriculum Committee Co-Chair: Martin Pietrucha, PSU/LTI; Co-Chair: John Collura, Massachusetts Finance Committee Chair: Dock Burke, TAMU/TTI Program Manager: Tom Humphrey, Retired Director of the NE UTC Program at MIT

10. Funding the Program Students will pay tuition directly to the universities offering the courses Supporting organizations have committed to provide education/tuition support Administrative and start up costs Through Texas A&M funded by the participating universities Through Penn State funded by $1.2 M FHWA grant Eventually, program will be self-sustaining Student fees

Major Milestones/Current Status • December 17, 2008 • Formal program announcement • Debut of Web site • Winter/Spring 2009 • 8 courses available for program credit • Summer • 1 course available for program credit • Fall 2009 • 12 courses currently available for program credit; possibly more to come
