  1. Benefits of Adopting Uniform Adaptations for Evidence Based Practices

  2. Why are We Working Toward Adopting Uniform Adaptations to Evidence Based Practices? • More uniform assessment • Evaluation of program process and effects • Justifying program continuation

  3. SAMHSA Expects Them • RFA’s require you to describe one or more EBPs you will be implementing • A specific EBP is rarely an exact fit for your program • You have the option to describe and justify adaptations to the EBP

  4. So, the EBP is Not an Ideal Fit • Let’s talk about adaptations, and why they were made • In the EBP • In your Context

  5. Changes in the EBP Design • Target population • Duration and timing • Intervention design • Intervention content • Outcomes • Assessments • Evaluation

  6. Changes in the Context • Infrastructure constraints • Billing and reporting requirements • Training needs • Need for oversight

  7. Adaptations During the Program • Changes in the EBP How? When? Why?

  8. Where do we go from here? • Continuing to seek input from grantees on: • Their experience with adapting EBPs • Opportunities and challenges that using uniform adaptations of EBPs might present. • Grantee input at all phases of the process • Assemble a small team of experienced grantee evaluators to develop plans to achieve the desired outcomes.

  9. Reaching Us • Judith Cohen jcohen@ebcrp.org East Bay Community Recovery Project • Ed Craft ed.craft@samhsa.hhs.gov
