In this engaging Theory of Knowledge (TOK) role-play scenario, students take on the roles of aliens and earthlings to examine the concepts of art, music, and literature. Pairs will toss a coin to determine their roles, and each group will prepare questions or definitions regarding these human expressions. Aliens will challenge earthlings with queries about the significance and value of these seemingly perplexing creations, encouraging critical thinking and exploration of the nature of knowledge in the arts.

Aliens: You now have five minutes to prepare all of the questions you can about these fascinating, but just damn weird things you have come across which the earthlings refer to as ‘art’, ‘music’ and ‘literature’. Earthlings: You now have five minutes to prepare a set of definitions for and a list of the purposes of ‘visual art’, ‘music’ and ‘literature’.
Introductory role play scenario Scenario: The Aliens Have Landed Role Play: Now Aliens, you have ten minutes to grill this earthling person about these weird - and apparently completely useless - inventions. Now Earthlings, you have ten minutes to respond to this grumpy aliens incessant queries about what you know are definable and extremely valuable forms of expression.
