  3. Geography • Oesling; forested highlands in north (Ardennes) • Good Land; farmland & woods in central & south • Landlocked; surrounded by Germany, France, & Belgium • Winter temperatures= 32°F; Summer Temperatures= 75°F • Average 32 in. of rain

  4. Key Dates • Free of Dutch rule in 1890 • Controlled by Germany; 1914-1918, 1939-1945 • National holidays: New Years Day, Labor Day, the Grand Duke’s birthday, & Fair Day • Religious holidays: Easter, Ascension, Whitmonday, Assumption, All Saints Day, All Souls Day, & Christmas
