Grants Texas Excellence Grant: First degree-seeking Undergraduates Date of FAFSA is considered Graduated HS recommended or distinguished Have EFC of $4000 or less Must be a Texas resident Must enroll at least ¾ time Making Satisfactory Academic Progress UTSA Grant: Date of FAFSA is considered Must be a Texas Resident Need based

  13. Work Study Must state interest on FAFSA Awarded to students with demonstrated need Funds are limited and paid as earned Student should coordinate with the Career Center to find on-campus employment Positions not guaranteed

Loans Subsidized Stafford Loan: Interest is paid by Department of Education while you are in school Maximum for freshman year = $3500 Unsubsidized Stafford Loan: Interest begins to accrue when the loan is taken out, so students must decide to make interest payments or allow interest to roll into principle balance Maximum Sub/Unsub combined per year = $5500 Parent PLUS Loan: Parent credit worthiness is assessed; repayment begins 60 days after the second disbursement Alternative Loan: Credit worthiness; Variable credit
