  1. Kindergarten does “Kid Writing” about the overgrown garden in their journals with their teacher, before the event! Green Apple Day of Service 2012 Ben Chambers Elementary School GARDEN “RESCUE” EVENT

Teacher Trish Thomas gets students organized, while 5th graders line the fence to grab bunches of weeds to fill the Building and Grounds trailer. ************************************ Principal Gladys Leon works early on with some moms from Wilson College’s Women With Children Group that came out to help.

  3. IT WAS A TEAM EFFORT AT THE GREEN APPLE DAY OF SERVICE

  4. Looking better as the afternoon went on, students, moms, dads, and teachers all pitched in to reclaim the garden. ..and no one was afraid of a little dirt!

  5. Mrs. Thomas’s 3rd grade, pictured here with Barbara Aldrich from PSU Extension 4-H, Katie Kough and WWC from Wilson College, and some classroom moms, plan to use and maintain the garden for various projects and inspiration going forward…along with any of the classes at Ben Chambers. The strawberry patch was retained and the other 3 beds will be replanted with ????????? (They have ideas!)
