How to get associates on board • Make it easy on them • Explain what you expect from them upfront • Typically an hour and a half • Tour of the department • Explanation of the department • Education staff received • Hands on experience • Shadowing staff • Personal phone calls and emails • Outlook appointments with location • Thank you cards • Coffee vouchers
How to get organized and plan ahead • Make a schedule • Block off your calendar • Sign Up Genius • Survey at the end • Pizza on the last day • $5 from each teen
How to stick to the requirements • Send reminder emails • No exceptions • If you let them break one rule, they will see how far they can take it • Certificate of hours • Incentive • Orientation • Getting to know you • Icebreaker • Uniform • Cell phone policy

VolunTEEN Behavior • VolunTEENs must act in a professional manner during their volunteer time While in the hospital: • Be sure stay together • Stay at an appropriate volume level • Speak with respect • Elevator manors • Eye contact and pay attention when others are speaking to you • Being punctual • Listen to Cayce (Intern) • No chewing gum • No phones unless you’re on your lunch break • Conference room is “free” time, door closed
How to take care of yourself • Put on an away message • Ask for help • Use an intern or a seasoned volunteer • Do as many things in advance as you can • T-shirts ordered, coffee vouchers printed, thank you cards ready, goody bags made, paperwork printed
