Court Reporting Services - PDF

Court reporting is the process of creating and maintaining accurate, verbatim records of legal proceedings. Court reporters, also known as stenographers, are trained professionals who transcribe spoken words into written form using a specialized machine called a stenotype or a voice writing system. The written record can be used in a court of law, administrative hearings, or other legal proceedings as evidence or to provide a transcript for review. Court reporting services provide real-time court reporting, captions for the deaf and hard of hearing, and video and audio recordings. The purpose

  1. TYPES OF COURT REPORTING SERVICES Realtime Court Reporting Hudson Realtime court reporters are extensively trained and highly experienced, capable of typing at high speeds accurately, to capture every spoken word. They are deeply familiar with legal terminology and procedures, and are able to manage technical equipment and software effectively. Our reporters use specialized equipment to produce a written transcript of legal proceedings in real time that is displayed on a screen to allow all participants to read the proceedings as they unfold. Real-time transcripts are then saved to be searched or reviewed at a later date. Virtual Depositions Virtual depositions are legal proceedings where a witness or a party to a lawsuit gives testimony or provides evidence remotely, using video conferencing technology, instead of being physically present in a deposition room or courtroom. During a virtual deposition, participants can communicate with each other in realtime using video and audio technology, as well as document sharing and collaboration tools. Participants can see and hear each other, as well as any exhibits or evidence being presented. Attorneys can ask questions and receive answers as if they were in person, and the deposition can be recorded and transcribed for later use in court. Video depositions are helpful in situations where a witness or attorney is unable to travel, or when a case involves parties located in different parts of the country or the world. Arbitration and Mediation Reporting In both arbitration and mediation reporting, strong emphasis is placed on providing a clear and concise explanation of the outcome of the ADR alternative dispute resolution, including any decisions or agreements reached, as well as the reasoning and rationale behind them. This type of reporting is important for ensuring transparency and accountability in the ADR process, and for allowing the parties involved to understand and accept the final outcome. Hearings Hudson hearing reporters create an accurate and verbatim record of every word spoken in the courtroom during a trial or hearing. The court reporter will then transcribe their notes into a written transcript, which is provided to all parties involved. This transcript serves as an official record of the legal proceeding. Transcript Production The purpose of transcript production is to provide a written record of all spoken communication during a legal proceeding that can be easily reviewed, analyzed, and shared. Transcripts are commonly produced in various types of formats, including verbatim transcripts that capture every word spoken, or edited transcripts that condense or summarize the content, and may include other information such as the names of the speakers, time stamps, and notes about non-verbal communication. #5 www.hudsonreporting.com/services/court-reporting/
