“Research reconnaissance” Cell phones e-waste 1. Search in Library Search 2. Search in Fast Search • Narrow to scholarly articles
Scholarly journals • May be in-depth but only on a specific topic • Journals have original research and typically focus on one experiment • Limited coverage without much historical overview or context • Shorter: up to around 30 pages • Composed of volumes and issues published on a regular basis
Searching databases • Research guides provide the best entry • Also: check their “Background information” tab for more specific encyclopedias • Search for books AND articles
