  1. Can Compression Wear Help Enhance Your Workout? It is often seen that athletes usually wear compression shirt long sleeve among many other compression garments both during competitions and in training. Compression wear is tight fitting, elastic in nature garments that were thought to have been a functional role in the enhancing bio-mechanical performance. Initially, there was a notion that these garments are capable of holding muscles firmly in their places, improve blood circulation and increase delivery of oxygen to active muscles.Such is not the case, as per the findings post completion of several independent studies recently. The study involved observing a small sample group of physically fit men as they run on treadmills without wearing any compression wear. The second step was to mark their oxygen intake, blood pressure, blood circulation, heart rate, stance, stride and body positioning. It was followed by the same steps, but this time the participants were made to wear special compression sleeves in their lower legs. The finding made it clear that wearing compression wear has nothing to do with enhancement of biomechanics and overall athletic performance. The resultswere based upon two parameters, i.e. •Running economy - the measure of efficiency, endurance and performance& •Running gait - that includes stride length and frequency Both these parameters were unchanged when the athlete was made to wear compression sleeves on their lower legs. Is there any actual benefit from wearing compression clothes? Compression wear is an umbrella term that covers clothing that is both tight and revealing! Apart from the falsely marketed claims, true compression wear like superhero compression shirt long sleeve has a series of benefits and science backs them too! Medical compression wear is specifically designed to increase lymphatic and blood flow to an injured limb. It is often prescribed by physiotherapists worldwide to athletes and aged individuals in case they suffered an injury to their limbs. 1

  2. Compression wear is also beneficial for professional bodybuilders to minimize recovery period after a strenuous workout session is completed.Evidence that can backthe efficacy of compression wear for enhancing athletic and biomechanical performance is scarce but hands-on evidence are there for compression wear can help in: •Increased oxygen uptake by the working muscles •Reduced blood lactate levels & •improved warm-upsin cases where the athlete wears compression garment post a workout session Compression clothing might appear as clothing made to fit tightly over the physique of an individual, but that is not its true feature. Compression clothes are graded as per their capability to ease the flow of blood, it's wicking ability that prevents pooling of sweat thereby keeping the athlete cool during strenuous training sessions. In Conclusion It is evident that the science behind proof regarding the efficacy of compression wear isn’t conclusive. It doesn’t mean that compression wear cannot assist in minimizing recovery time for workout enthusiasts. 2
