    2. Warm-up 9/14/2011 What mood are you in this afternoon? Why are you in the mood that youre in. Give me details that help describe why youre in such a mood. Details such as how much rest you got, if you ate breakfast, how your other classes went, etc.

    3. Mood and Imagery To create a setting that stays with you long after a story ends, a writer paints pictures with words. With the right choice of details and language, a writer can transport you to any scene and affect how you feel about the story.

    4. Imagery Imagery - Consists of vivid descriptions that recreate sensory experiences for readers Sensory Language words and phrases that appeal to the senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch to help you visualize a scene.

    5. Mood Imagery and setting are used to create mood. Mood atmosphere of the story; whether its lighthearted, hopeful or mysterious, a storys mood can affect your emotional reaction to the characters or events.
