  6. Why Now? • San Marcos and Escondido schools start their new year August 19th • Packs need to be ready for Back-to-School nights

  7. Some Reasons for Recruiting • Your Pack won’t survive without it • A large Pack is easier on the leaders • More parents to draw from • Boys have more fun in larger Dens • Pack outings can be more elaborate • Finances aren’t such a problem • You are helping other boys

  8. So How Do We Do Recruiting? • Most Packs are associated with one or more schools • Contact the Principals and arrange to have a recruiting event on Back To School Night • Put up a recruiting display at a store • See Recruiting Ideas handout • Most important: Ask the boy!

Hold a Recruiting Event • How do we do it? • See Roundup Agenda handout • Have a recruiting packet ready • Have the boys go have fun • Work with the parents on what is involved • Don’t make it too deep. If it is overwhelming, parents will avoid it. • Don’t forget to recruit leaders if you can • Family Talent Survey – Don’t let them leave until they fill it out! • Don’t forget to close the deal – Ask them to join!
