What do you know about Blues?? • The blues is a style of music that is about expressing how you feel about your own life situations • This type of music allows the artists to overcome their hard times and have fun while singing and playing instrument • The Blues first began in the 19th century on plantations by slaves and the ex slaves around the Mississippi Delta area. • They would sing these songs while doing crop work and when they had their free time
The first artist of the blues and those who were influenced… The first… • Big Bill Broonzy began performing his own music with his fiddle in 1893. then moved to Chicago where he became famous for his versatile repertoires of the music he played. He later influenced musicians in the U.K and Europe. One of his famous songs are “when will I get called to be a Man” • Willie Brown is another great blues artist who started out in the late 1900’s playing the guitar and singing his own songs. He had an enormous influence on the making of the Delta blues. One of his famous songs are “M&O Blues” • The Main artist that we are to focus on that was influenced by these artist is riley B King also known as B.B. king. Has anyone ever heard of him? Riley B. King • Also known as BB King, he was born on September 16,1925 in IttaBena, Mississippi. • He was influenced by his pastor named Archie Fair. He taught BB how to sing and play the guitar • He then traveled to Memphis,TNto pursue his career.

King • BB King finally got his big break and got signed to Bullet Records • His first recording was in 1940’s and he madehis first #1 hit with a song called “You Upset me Baby” • Over time B.B. King released over fifty albums, and he perform in over 250 concerts a year and received four Grammy awards. • BB King was honored the presidential medal of freedom and a star on Hollywood walk of Fame
