  1. Alina Khan Teeth !

  2. Teeth in general • Your front and middle teeth (central incisors) usually grow first. After that teeth start to grow on there own. • When you turn 3, your (baby) teeth should already have grown • When your 7 this process keeps repeating • At the age of 21 you should already have your permanent teeth

  3. Structure • 1 tooth it self consists of a crown and root. Which is buried in your gum and jaw (crown is related to the bone enamel). • Below the enamel is a layer of material (Dentine). Dentine is similar to the enamel but, is not as hard as the enamel. • Blood vessels & nerves reach to the pulp cavity through the root canal, that forces through your root.

  4. How you get Cavities • Whenever you eat something, small bits of food are left between your teeth • All the bacteria digest the carbohydrates in food (you eat) and produce an acid. • This type of acid dissolves the hard outer layer of your tooth (enamel) and from that a cavity is formed.

  5. How to prevent cavities • Brush your teeth after every meal you have • Flossing is an option but is a good way to keep teeth clean • Don’t keep eating lots of food with sugar in them

  6. Bacteria • Bacteria- a group of living organisms that are all over around your mouth: teeth, gums, lips and your tongue. • Bacteria is normal but sometimes can be harmful. • Proteins and saliva (spit) mix in with other bacteria's too… etc.

  7. Smoking/tobacco • Smoking is harmful for your teeth, it stains your teeth, makes you loose teeth and shrinks gums. • We all know that sugar is one of the biggest problems for teeth, but tobacco also contains sugar which is much worse than cavities.
