  2. General Information about the NEET One of the most respected profession is being a Doctor. But to become one involves lots of hard work, dedication, and an attitude of never giving up. To start the journey of becoming a Doctor, students should clear their medical entrance exam in India. As the number of aspirants is increasing every given year.   3. Earlier, there used to be many medical entrance examinations in India conducted for the students to get admission in the colleges. There used to be NEET, AIIMS, JIPMER, to name a few of the medical entrance examinations which were conducted. On 08th August 2019 The National Medical Commission Act, 2019 received the permission of the President that Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 provides for holding of a common and uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to the undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions including those governed under any other law.

  4. The above the law says that there will be only one medical entrance exam in India to get admission in MBBS courses. Thus, students need not prepare separately for AIIMS and JIPMER as the scores of NEET will be eligible for getting admission in these institutions.

Eligibility criteria for appearing the NEET examination • The following are the eligibility criteria that have to be fulfilled to appear for the NEET examination • Candidates appearing for the exam should be Indian • Candidates should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the first year Undergraduate Medical Courses • The upper age limit for the candidates appearing for the examination is set at 25years with a relaxation of 5 years in case the candidates belong to SC, ST, OBC NCL, or PWD backgrounds.

  6. Candidates who have appeared for their 12th standard examination or those who are appearing for their 12th standard examination. • Candidates must have a subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology in their 12th Standard. They must also have Mathematics and an elective subject along with English in their 12th Standard

  7. Examination paper pattern The candidates have to answer Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). They have to prepare Physics, Chemistry, and Biology based on the topics covered in their XI and XII standard syllabuses. There will be 90 questions asked from Biology, making it the highest-scoring subject while preparing for the medical entrance exam in India. Physics and Chemistry carry equal weightage of 45 questions each.

  8. Overall there will be 180 questions that will be asked, and it carries 720 Marks. Each question will carry four marks, and every incorrect answer attempted one mark will be deducted from the total score of the candidate.
