  2. Pembarti, a tiny and merely noticeable village located 64 km away from the magnificent city of Warangal, has a special place in the history of Telangana. The demography of metal craftsmen that inhibits the village, the ones who perfected the art of sheet metal engravings, passively helped ​Pembarti shine out on the state map among other countless villages. The pots, wall sheets, royal sheets, and statues crafted in Pembarti became so popular in the Indian subcontinent that the art was named after it. In the history of Indian art and crafts, Telangana is referred as one of the most thriving region. Among all, the brassware engraving art has always been the most prevalent, thanks to its uniqueness.

  3. In the state of Telengana, the Pembarti brassware art has been existed from hundreds of years. Primary metals used to carry out the engraving process are Brass and Bronze. Moreover, several craftsmen find the alloy of brass and bronze better for engraving. The history of pembarti metal art goes back to 800 years when the lands of Hyderabad, situated 80 km from pembarti, was reigned by Kakatiya kings. The Kakatiya dynasty thrived for almost 500 years and the pembarti metal artifacts along with it. The metal workers of Pembarti are known as ‘vishwakarmas’. Since, the times of Kakatiya dynasty, the beautifully decorated metal sheet caught the attention of many and started to get popular. The most appreciated works of the art were vigraham (statues) and the chariots of hindu temples. During the Kakatiya kingdom, most of the temples were decorated by extensive metal sheet craftsmanship which further helped expand its recognition throughout the country. It is said that if one aspires to admire the ancient and signature style of Pembarti artisans, the temples will be the best places.
