  1. What do You Need to Know About Hair Transplant Procedures? As pollution combined with an unhealthy lifestyle continues unabated, the problem of hair loss is becoming a genuine concern for everyone. While on one hand when various off-the-counter products are taking over the market, they are high on side-effects and offer just a temporary solution. The only permanent remedy to treat the situation is the surgical method of hair transplant. In a hair transplant procedure, hair follicles are removed from the donor site and transplanted to the bald part of the recipient site. Various esteemed institutes like IICSAM provide hands-on quality training to enhance a medical professional’s expertise in the concerned field.

  2. What do you mean by a hair transplant procedure? A hair transplant procedureis an act of using healthy follicles of hair from one part of the scalp (or body) and grafting them to the balding area. This is performed through two methods: FUT and FUE. FUE, or Follicular Unit Extraction, is a hair transplant procedure where the hair follicles are extracted from the scalp using a low torque punch device. In this new-age method, the patients have a faster recovery rate, making it more often opted for a hair transplant procedure. FUT, or Follicular Unit Transplantation, a method also known as strip harvesting, take a strip of scalp containing healthy follicles from the back of the head and uses those to graft to the balding area. This process leaves a linear scar at the donor site, which can further be corrected using other procedures like Scalp Micropigmentation. Who can be benefited from a hair transplant procedure? There are several factors considered while finding out the ideal candidate for a hair transplant procedure. Some of them are: 1. Age group: No specific age-group counts to be ideal for a hair transplant as anyone suffering from hair loss between the age of 25 to 65 can opt for the procedure. If the patient is facing hair loss before or after

  3. the group mentioned, you might as well consider the other criteria before making a decision. 2. Reason for hair loss: A patient needs to know this clearly that hair transplant cannot reverse the natural progression of hair, and so going for a hair transplant procedurecan only act as a solution to a few conditions. People with pattern baldness are perfect examples of patients who can go for the surgery because they would still have enough donor hair to provide follicles for the treatment. 3. Quality of donor hair: While this might be kept aside as a factor that doesn’t account to much, only a certified surgeon would be able to mention how much does this matter when it comes to the transplant. The success rate of the hair transplant proceduredepends on the quality of the donor hair as it is a determinant in counting the number of grafts that are to be made. Various other factors play their roles when it comes to determining the ideal candidate for a hair transplant procedurewhich only a trained aesthetician would be able to denote. Study centres like the International Institute of Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetic Medicine provide hands-on hair transplant training courses for medical professionals. These two-day courses are presided over by surgeons certified from the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) and the ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery), making IICSAM one of the most trusted places offering such a course. Open to professionals who have passed their MBBS and above, the course runs throughout the year and is open to only two seats per month. Divided into two days, the course can be carried on both individually or in a group of ten, as it covers all the basics and highlights of both the hair transplant procedures. The course material comes with a hands- on demonstration of real patients, overseen by the experts, to have a clear idea. The course also discusses unique cases like crown/vertex transplant, creation of the temple point, and combined FUT+FUE. Conclusion: Dr Satya Saraswat, the ABHRS surgeon presiding the course, had presented a modified FUT technique at the twenty-fourth World Congress of ISHRS. He gives his years of experience and knowledge to train the professionals in the field. So, if you are someone who has just passed MBBS and above, you can enrol for the course and enhance your knowledge. Get in touch with IICSAM by dialling +91- 9149112892.
