  2. Define Goodness Basic Definition Goodness means something admirable, attractive, and praiseworthy. In other words, worthy of approval. “God is only originally good of himself. All created goodness is a rivulet from this fountain, but divine goodness hath no spring; God depends upon no other for his goodness, he hath it in and of himself. Man hath no goodness from himself, God hath no goodness from without himself; his goodness is no more derived from another than his being.” -Stephen Charnoc Whatever is worthy of God’s approval

Define Goodness There are 3 types of goodness The inherent goodness natural in a thing or being The goodness in the will or character of a being The acts of goodness a being may do Gen 1:31 God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Psa 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! God is the highest standard of good Psa 145:9 The LORD is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works. Mat 5:44-45 "But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, (45) so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Rom 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

This is the quality of generosity. Generosity means a disposition to give to others in a way which has no mercenary motive and is not limited by what the recipients deserve but consistently goes beyond it. Generosity expresses the simple wish that others should have what they need to make them happy. Generosity is, so to speak, the focal point of God’s moral perfection; it is the quality which determines how all God’s other excellences are to be displayed.” (JI Packer)

  12. Conclusion What does God’s love mean for me? You can boldly approach Him. You can trust Him We should in turn do good (We should do what God approves) Gal 6:10 So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. “But remember that you can answer every question with this expression: “God of His goodness willed it.
