Empowering Girls Through Residential Education Project

Pratirodh Sansthan Residential School provides education for girls from marginalized communities. Started in 2008 with AfE-SV support, it enrolls 60 girls aged 9-12, following state board curriculum. In 2009-2010, girls excelled in exams and some advanced to higher grades. Current state: 60 girls, 2 teachers, with 15 preparing for exams. Budget includes salary for project coordinator.

About the project • Residential facility for girls of backward classes and tribes • Started with AfE-SV support in Nov. 2008. • Currently 60 girls are enrolled between the age group of 9-12 • Two full-time teachers • School follows state board curriculum and primarily relies on material and teaching aids from Digantar

  3. Highlights of 2009-2010 • 10 girls gave 5th grade examination of government school in April 2010 • 10 girls were admitted to the Kasturba Gandhi Residential schools in 6th grade • 9 girls dropped out of the school by the end of the term

  4. Current State • Total number of girls at present- 60 • Number of teachers-2 • 15 girls are preparing for 5th grade examination.

  5. Budget [1] coordinator salary is new component for to cover salary for SumanJi (project coordinator) as described in discussion notes ** components that are either new or have increased between last year budget cycle
