My Journey from Hong Kong to the U.S.: Embracing New Opportunities

My name is Yee Mei Chan, and I was born in Hong Kong, often referred to as the Pearl of the Orient. Growing up in this vibrant and crowded city shaped my identity. Hong Kong transitioned from British control to becoming part of China on June 30, 1997, prompting many, including myself, to immigrate to countries like the U.S., Australia, and Canada. I moved to the U.S. in 2000 and have since focused on studying. Although I currently take care of my family without a job, I attend ESL and computer classes daily, aspiring to take credit classes in the future.
