  2. BEFORE YOU WRITE ANYTHING… • Read the entire question… • Read it again… • Read it again… • Maybe read it one more time…

  3. Brainstorm • Annotate • Underline key words/phrases in the question itself. Circle specific requirements of the question. • Define the term “Green Revolution…” • Give three examples… • Outline • Jot down key terms/vocabulary/examples/etc. that will be a part of your response. Make a “thumbnail outline.” • 5 FULL minutes PER FRQ • Make a list of ideas – did the question ask for 3 examples? List MORE – and then choose your best ideas and work with them and ONLY THEM. three

  4. Writing the FRQ • ALWAYS WRITE IN COMPLETE SENTENCES! • Answer the question in the order it is asked. If the question is organized “A., B., C.,” answer it “A., B., C.” Label the parts of your answer. • NO BULLET POINTS • A formal introduction is NOT needed, launch right into your answer. • Answer each section of the question COMPLETELY. When you have answered a part of the question (which you have underlined or circled) cross it off. • Be specific. Avoid vague statements. Do NOT assume the reader is an expert in the topic. • Tell it to your Grandma! • Do not give your opinion. State the obvious. Be concise. • A formal conclusion is not needed. • No diagrams or pictures.

Discuss how a reduction in the friction of distance led to the need for standardized time-zones. Annotate the question and then create your brainstorm in the space below for question #1.
