  2. English Language and Literature (AQA Advanced Level) • Why Study? What skills can I gain? English is vital for communicating with others in school and in the wider world, and is fundamental to learning in all curriculum subjects. Students develop skills that they will need to participate in society and in employment. Students learn to express themselves creatively and imaginatively, as well as studying and analysing great works of literature.

  3. English Language and Literature (AQA Advanced Level) • Course Description AS outline Unit 1: Integrated Analysis and Text Production. In-depth study of two literary texts, focusing on language. Unit 2: Analysing Speech and its Representation. In-depth study of spontaneous speech and speech in a literary text. A2 outline Unit 3: Comparative Analysis and Text Adaptation. In-depth study of three texts (fiction and non-fiction) and a re-cast of a news article into another form. Unit 4: Comparative Analysis through Independent Study. Extended course work comparing poetry to other literary texts.

  4. English Language and Literature (AQA Advanced Level) • Assessment AQA English Language and Literature Specification A. Unit 1: 90 minute written examination. Unit 2: 90 minute written examination. Unit 3: 150 minute written examination. Unit 4: Extended written coursework.

English Language and Literature (AQA Advanced Level) • Career Opportunities and Pathways Due to the wide range of skills that students can demonstrate they often make fine employees in any type of work environment. However, English particularly lends itself to careers which involved dealing with people in commerce, finance, law, politics, teaching and media. In addition, English is also recognised as a valuable qualification for entry into a wide range of higher education courses.
