Limerick • Uses both rhyme and rhythm. • Rhyme pattern: A,A,B,B,A • Consist of five lines; 1st, 2nd, 5th lines rhyme and 3rd and 4th rhyme with each other and are shorter than the other three. • The last line often contains a funny or surprising ending. Drafting • This is when you take your ideas from the prewriting stage and put them in the form of a poem. • Use your graphic organizer to help organize your thoughts. • Drafting is messy. • Main focus is getting your thoughts down and content of your writing on paper. • Do not worry about grammar and spelling mistakes.
