  3. Objectives • To improve skills and competences • To improve quality of, and access to, continuing vocational training • To promote and reinforce the contribution of vocational training to the process of innovation

Potential Applicants • Private, public or semi-public organisations in vocational training: • vocational training bodies, including universities • research centres and bodies • undertakings - SMEs and craft industry • professional organisations • social partners • local and regional bodies • non profit organisations

  7. 1 Mobility • Support for transnational mobility projects. • Aimed at: • people undergoing vocational training • those responsible for training • 2 types of project: • transnational placement projects • transnational exchange projects

  8. 1 Mobility -TransnationalPlacements If possible: • A validation of skills and competences acquired • entered in the framework of the European pathways for work linked training, including apprenticeship

  9. 1 Mobility -Transnational Exchanges • Between Undertakings and Vocational training organisations or universities • Human resources managers in the business sector; vocational training programme planners; managers, particularly trainers and occupational guidance specialists. • Between Undertakings and Specialised language training establishments, including universities and vocational training bodies • Trainers and mentors in the area of language competences Duration: 1 to 6 weeks

  10. 1 Mobility Duration of the projects and community contribution • The maximum duration for projects is two years. Closing date is 13 Feb 2004 • The placement or exchange is either 1 week, 3 weeks, 3 months or 9 months in duration. • Transnational placement projects involving SMEs will receive special financial support. • Community contribution to placement and exchange projects: maximum 5.000€per beneficiary for a placement or an exchange(this amount corresponds to the maximum duration indicated)

  11. 2 Pilot Projects • Main aim: To develop and transfer innovation and quality in vocational training - including actions aiming at the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in vocational training

  12. 2 Pilot Projects • Proposed actions: • promote design, development, testing etc of VT products, tools, methods etc. • develop the use of ICTs in VT • develop new VT tools etc., using ICTs • support creation of transnational open & distance learning networks • design, test & validate new approaches • develop innovative tools for info. & counselling

  13. 2 Pilot Projects • Distinguishing Features: • a vehicle for improving quality and promoting innovation in Vocational Training • tools, methods/concepts, concrete material developed - used or adapted for changing environments

  14. 2 Pilot Projects • Implementation: • support for production of tangible materials, products, methods & approaches in VT • no support for training activities • innovation & quality in proposals • draw on results & expertise of 1st phase • dissemination integral part of the project • European dimension - all partner languages

  15. 3 Language Competences • Main aim: To enhance multilingual and multicultural communication in the training and working environment

  16. 3 Language Competences • The following types of projects may receive Community support: • Language / communication tools • Learning and / or training tools • Dissemination projects*The provision of language courses is not supported

  17. 3 Language Competences • Language / communication audits: • design of diagnostic tools • awareness raising initiatives • training tools & methods

  18. 3 Language Competences • Learning and / or training tools: • training programmes • systems to assess, validate, recognise • materials, approaches & methods • tools to train trainers • language & cultural preparation for mobility

  19. 3 Language Competences • Dissemination Projects broaden field of application for results of previous vocationally orientated language / intercultural competences projects

  20. 3 Language Competences • Distinguishing Features: • proposals must be specifically aimed at a target group in vocational training & reflect the communication and task-orientated performance required in a work situation • proposals must contribute to making enterprises, particularly SMEs aware of the importance of effective communication in a foreign language in a work related environment

  21. 3 Language Competences • Maximum duration 3 years • Maximum Community contribution: • 75% of eligible expenditure • limit 200.000 Euros per year per project

  22. 3 Language Competences • Language Competences within other measures: • mobility • thematic action under pilot projects • transnational networks • references material • NB Proposals must respect the objectives and conditions applying to the measure chosen

  23. 3 Language Competences • Elements Pre- and Full Proposals for Language Competences must include: • analysis of need • development of methods, approaches and tools • evaluation • dissemination of results
