This presentation outlines recent advancements in the ADRICOSM operational system, featuring Paolo Oddo from INGV. It discusses the system's structure, including POM-based coding, high-resolution capabilities, and improved smol advection schemes. Recent results demonstrate enhanced seasonal surface circulation fields, mean and instantaneous circulation patterns, and T/S diagrams. Comparisons of model predictions with observed data highlight significant improvements in salinity predictions. The results indicate that recent updates have effectively addressed previous model deficiencies, ensuring operational excellence in both 5km and 2km configurations.

OUTLINE • The ADRICOSM operational system • Recent improvements • New results and validation • Conclusion
ADRICOSM operational system • POM Based Code • 5km horiz. Resolution • 21 vertical sigma layers • Smol. Advection scheme
New Results and Validation Summer Winter Climatological (from new sys.) seasonal surface circulation fields.
New Results and Validation Mean and Instantaneous circulation patterns
New Results and Validation T/S diagrams from Obs(dark) and Model (Red). Divided by Year :(2001-2002-2003) and sub-regions: Northern, Middle and Southern Adriatic
New Results and Validation Comparison between surface CHL (Satellite) and model predicted salinity patterns CHL SALT
Conclusions • The ADRICOSM Regional model is operational in both configurations (5km and 2km NO WEB). • Recent model changes have improved numerical results • Comparison with available observation has shown that some old model deficiencies has been fixed.
