Issues- System Integrity • Acceptable levels for false/nuisance alerts • What causes a false/nuisance/missed alerts? • What causes missed alerts? • Technology limited; convective 15 dBz(dry enough)? • What are the consequences of a false/ nuisance/missed? • Flight Crew and Passenger Confidence • The answers will drive system requirements and intended function

Issues-Advisory Circular • Should we focus requirements on a WXR Radar Short Range sit down hang on TPWAS • What is the crew alerting concept for short range detection? • How will the visual and aural alerts be established for short range detection? • Simulation Study • Secure Cabin Study • Consider implementation of future technology

Issues-Proof of Intended Function • Aircraft Type/Model Dependant? • Validation Criteria • Simulation Tool Set • Models - sensor (ADWRS), turbulence (TASS), aircraft (ATR), spurious conditions (?) • Flight Condition/Path Scenarios • Flight test data • Engineering Research flights (Credit) • Certification (TIA)
