DEPENDENCY An irreparable breakdown of the family The death of a sole supporting parent Other, unique circumstances discussed with SSACI PC/EFC RECALCULATION Medical or Dental expenses in excess of what can be deducted from income The death of a parent or spouse Uninsured losses/Insurance payments from the loss of or damage to a house or vehicle Student’s parent(s) verifiably in college Other, unique circumstance discussed with SSACI SSACI Acceptable PJ reasons

DEPENDENCY Marriage, Separation, or Divorce after the FAFSA is filed An increase in the number of dependents or an increase in family members after the filing of the FAFSA (including children born after filing the FAFSA) PC/EFC ADJUSTMENT Changes or loss of employment during the base (previous) or current year Increases or decreases in income after the FAFSA is filed Windfall income SSACI Unacceptable PJ reasons

SSACI PJ Reason Codes • Edit 18-Dependency Status • 01-Irreparable breakdown of the student’s family • 02-Death of the student’s sole supporting parent • 03-Other, unique circumstances discussed with SSACI (you MUST discuss the situation with SSACI staff prior to using this code) • 99-Student does not qualify for dependency override for SSACI purposes

  5. SSACI PJ Reason Codes • Edit 19-PC/EFC Adjustment • 51-Medical and/or dental expenses in excess of amounts that can be deducted from income • 52-Death of a parent or spouse • 53-Uninsured expenses that result from the loss of or damage to a home or car • 54-Insurance payments received from the loss of or damage to a home or car • 55-Other, unique circumstances discussed with SSACI (you MUST discuss the situation with SSACI staff prior to using this code) • 56-Parent(s) verifiably in college • 99-Student does not qualify for PC/EFC override for SSACI purposes
