  1. CATARACT: SYMPTOMS, PREVENTION AND TREATMENTS

  2. A cataract is the muddying of the normally functioning lens of the eye. For individuals who have cataracts, seeing through cloudy eye lens is somewhat similar to glancing through a chilly or misted-up window. Obfuscated vision brought about by cataracts can make it increasingly hard to read anything, to drive a vehicle (particularly around evening time) or to see anyone’s face.  Most cataracts grow gradually and don't upset eyesight from the get-go. However, with time, cataracts start interfering with the person’s vision.

  3. In beginning, more grounded lighting and eyeglasses can assist the individual with managing cataracts. However, whenever vision becomes weaken enough, it’s time to get the cataract surgery.Luckily, cataract surgery is a commonly protected and compelling method to regain the normal vision.

  4. There are many forms of Cataract: - 1. Cataract with Old Age 2. Congenital Cataract (People who are born with Cataracts.) 3. Secondary Cataract due to Diabetes, Ultraviolet Light or Radiation. 4. Injury to the eye Cataracts Types: - 1. Posterior subcapsular cataracts 2. Nuclear cataracts in the focus of the lens 3. Cortical cataracts on the side of the lens that appear as small streaks Symptoms of Cataract: - Cloudy Eyes Hard to See Anything at Night Glare from the Bright Lights VaryingGlasses Number Double Vision Everything GivesYellow Shade

  5. PREVENTION OF CATARACT Let’s see some prevention tips to prevent Cataract from the start: - Right Diet A few studies have shown that Vitamin C and Vitamin E rich foods may be helpful in preventing Cataracts with age. Foods that are rich in Vitamin C are Oranges, Tomatoes, Broccoli, Potatoes, Lemon and Vitamin E rich foods are leafy vegetables, wheat germ etc.    Regular Eye Checkups Regular eye-checkups are important to know about any eye problem in advance. If you’re above 65, you should get your eyes checked after every 1 to 2 years.

  6. Quit Smoking Do you know that smoking cigarettes increase your chances of developing cataract? Researches suggests that it's true. Cigarette smoking pose threat to the eye health of the individual. This gives you another reason to put your packet down. Keep Blood Sugar in Check People who are diabetic are more susceptible to developing cataracts than those who aren’t. High blood sugar swells eye lenses which becomes reason for cataract in diabetics. Wear Shades Wear good quality sunglasses to protect your eyes from the UV rays of the sun.  Not only they will look great, but also reduce the chance of developing cataract with age. UV rays are harmful for the eye health.

  7. TREATMENT When prescription glasses can't help in correcting vision, then there's no choice except going for eye surgery. Have a detailed discussion with your ophthalmologist whether cataract surgery is right for you or not. Take time with the eye experts to know everything about the surgery. Cataract surgery involves removing the clouded lens and replacing it with clear artificial lens. The artificial lens is known as the intraocular lens. They are positioned in the same place as the natural lens.
