  1. Hairstyle that Suits Your Lifestyle

  2. Choosing a new hairstyle can be quite a daunting task especially if you find change hard. Apart from picking a style or color that will suit you, you also have to consider if it will suit your lifestyle.

  3. Below are some tips and tricks to help you not only choose the right style, but learn how to maintain it in between salon visits. 1. Are you low or high maintenance? Is going to the salon a regular feature in your calendar or only as often as you see your dentist or accountant. Some styles such as vibrant colours or edgy cuts require frequent trips to the salon to keep them looking fabulous. If you have the time, perfect, if not choose something that can work around your schedule. 2. How much money are you willing to spend? Most people with show their stylist a picture and think it can be done in the blink of an eye for the price of a Starbucks coffee. WRONG. Often to achieve the beautiful shades you see all over Pinterest, you will have several appointments which can span over a few months and several hundred dollars. This is not meant to scare you as many people enjoy the process of getting to their ideal colour. Just don’t expect to go platinum blonde for anything less than a small fortune.

  4. 3. How active are you? If you are in the gym several days a week or tend to sweat a lot, you need to find a style that can be washed easily and you can take care of alone. If your hair is colored make sure you are using products that will not only keep it hydrated but will also prevent dullness and color fade as you will wash more frequently. If you swim and have blond hair, always rinse as soon as possible as the copper in the water can turn your hair green. Ladies that like extensions and weaves, don’t let going to the gym put you off. You can have it all! Just always make sure to dry your hair thoroughly and keep it detangled. 4. Are you in it for the long haul? Every once in a while, we get the urge to do something dramatic and it is usually a positive and uplifting experience. Cutting off your super long hair and going for a pixie cut seems exciting until winter comes around and your neck and ears are cold. If you know you only want a minor change and are not sure which direction you want to go in then do the ‘side step’. The next time you visit the salon take a few inches more than usual but nothing more than 5 or have your bangs cut in a little more. Take your colour lighter or darker by a few shades. This will give you the feeling of something new without it being glaringly obvious. If you still want more, you can go for it at your next appointment.

  5. 5. Do what you want. At the end of the day it is your body and you can do with it as you please. Apart from a few jobs, most places allow you to express yourself quite freely but we place restrictions on ourselves that don’t really exist. If you have the urge to change up your look, always go for it. However, we suggest you visit a professional as home cuts and colors more often than not end in disaster.
