Dental implant dentures and dental bonding have become cosmetic procedures and cosmetic dentistry services are now being offered in family dental clinics, too. On the plus side, cosmetic dental treatment has become much more affordable. Cosmetic Tooth Bonding – not just a cosmetic procedure Dental Tooth Bonding is the procedure by which a tooth colored resin material is applied and hardened with light, bonding the material to the tooth. Cosmetically, this procedure improves the person’s smile. But dental bonding is also done for clinical reasons too, like: To repair chipped, cracked or decayed teeth To close spaces between teeth and change the shape of the teeth To make teeth look longer To protect the part of the teeth that is visible when the gums recede Though dental bonding is not the answer to all dental problems Cosmetic dental bonding is one of the easiest and least expensive of cosmetic dental procedures. The procedure can be completed in office visits and very less tooth enamel is removed. But Dental bonding is suitable for small cosmetic changes only and is mostly viewed as a temporary correction method. There are other methods that are arguably expensive but last longer, including porcelain veneers. Dental veneers correct teeth that have been discolored due to root canal treatment or use of other drugs, including excessive fluoride use. Veneers can successfully correct teeth that are worn down, chipped or broken and those with gaps between them. Cosmetic dentists recommend veneer because they provide the closest appearance to a natural tooth and the porcelain works well with the gum tissue and is stain resistant too.
